Ok, there are 3 satellites and 3 tuners. I've got legacy equipment. What's the least complicated and most reliable way to hook these up? I just pre-ordered the 921 and I'm planning on when it comes to fruition whether I'll be able to make it work.

Well I guess the question would be what do you have now? If you have 3 recievers and 3 dishes working right now you probably have a Switch 64. Then you have a problem because you only would have 1 drop left on the SW64 and the 921 would need 2. This leaves you 2 choices:

1. Drop on 6000 and sell on ebay if you do not want/need it since you will be replacing it with a 921.

2. Buy another SW 64 with the DC blocks and splitters and install it then you will have 4 more drops, you will use 2 for the 921 and then you will have 3 remaining for future expansion (maybe you will buy another 921!).

Or now if you do not have anything set up (i.e. just moved and do not have dishes). Get DishPro and 2 SW34. With DishPro you can have up to 3 of the SW34 for a total of 9 drops. But then you will have to buy 3 of the $70 DishPro adaptors for your 6000s (921 will do either the old or the new).

kelliot - what models are your current legacy receivers ?

If you have 301 / 501/508, You might want to consider going to Dishpro. This would still require the Legacy adapter for your 6000, but 1 Legacy adapter for a high end receiver I could see getting - for the others, I'd just replace them with 301's / 50X's.

I have 1 5000(to be history) and 1 6000 (1 tuner in one room) and will have a 921 (two tuners in main room). I'd like to have them all HD-capable. Right now, I have two SW21's with a SW42 and don't need one for 148 since it only gets HD.

Will Dishpro with one sw34 and a a legacy/dishpro converter work? Why do I need two sw34? Does Dish have a diagram posted anywhere?

The talk of 2 SW64s or 2 DP34s came from thinking you would have 5 tuners (3 tuners + pre-ordered 921). Your existing SW42/SW21 combo will not support more than 2 tuners, so it will have to be replaced. The simplest way is to replace those switches with an SW64 (6 inputs from 3 dual output LNBFs, 4 outputs to tuners).

DishPro with one DP34 (not SW34) and a DishPro Adapter will work but you will also have to replace the legacy LNBFs with a DP Twin (or 2 DP Singles) on the Dish500 and a DP Single on the 61.5 dish.

The diagram on the switch in the photo shows how you can chain up to 3 DP34 switches to get as many as 12 outputs. You can actually get 24 outputs from a single dish by making another chain of 3 DP34s and connecting each chain to a DP Quad.
