Before someone asks, "yes" I have been living in a cave (of sorts) over the past 5 months

Is there a recent new successor HD DVR that is equal or advanced to the HR20-700? Is it reliable? My 20-700 is reliable and problem free except for occasional audio dropouts (that probably are not due to the DVR).

Does DTV now have any sort of upgrade program for the 20-700?

What is this "Pro" jazz all about?

Has On-demand improved to the point were it is worth the trouble?

Has anyone heard of a service, now or in the feature that is/will be superior to DTV HD?

I've been with DTV for over 16 years here in the Dallas market and have gone through every phase of bad product/good product, bad service/good service that one can imagine so I'm no babe in the woods.

You may remember me from the attached.

The HR21 is the current DVR. It is functionally identical to the HR20 except it does not have the ability to get over-the-air signals unless you get the AM21 addon. You will like the fact that HR21s are shiny black.

Since the HR21 is the same as the HR20, there's no upgrade program.

There is an HR21Pro which amounts to having a rack-mountable machine with more capacity and a few more options for installers.

On Demand is getting better all the time, but it's got to be your decision if it's better.

What's better than DIRECTV HD? Blu-Ray disc, I guess.
