If you watched that horrible ABC remake, here's a chance to see the original.

Actually the remake was more true to the original Broadway play than the old Robert Preston classic. I enjoyed it but I thought Mathew Broderick was the wrong person for the part.

It's great that TCM is playing the original tonight but is it letterbox? The DVD looks wonderful and I wouldn't watch it any other way. Satellite surely won't bring it justice letterbox or not.

Ah, the start of Ron Howard's long career. I also have the DVD and this is one of the few musicals (along with West Side Story) that I really enjoy. I didn't see the ABC version, but I can't imagine Mathew Broderick in the part.
