Why doesn't dish include encore east and the movie channels /east in at 150..seems kinda of odd they included the west coast feed only and make you pay extra for theeast coast feed>

Because those channels are in the premium movie packages and if they offered those channels in the top 150 package then they would not be able to offer them in the premium movie packages therefore making those packages less attractive. They want you to order the top 150 to get the rest of the movie channels or make it to where you can order that package to get a few movie channels but to get the cream of the crop you have to pay extra to get the premiums.

Because people who have Starz/Encore package and Showtime Unlimited include those channels on their packages. :) You get to see everything that is on those channels. Just 3 hours later. That's why we have the PVR! :D

I wish they would put just ONE movie channel in the AT50, like TCM or Fox movie.
AT50 gets you nothing. It's a loss leader designed to get you in on the cheap with the expectation that you will get tired of watching nothing and will upgrade to a $uperior package.

That's quite a bit of nothing for $25 a month. :D

And it does give a reasonable choice for those who really cannot afford more.
The top 50 is a great package. There are only like 2 channels that I wouldn't mind having that are in the top 100. FX and noggin. And the fact that you can pay for a full year, and get 12 months for the price of 11.
Although the new local deal for top 50/locals for $30 is nice too.

I agree. The ONLY AT100 channel that I watch is Fox News. If they would just move it to the AT50 package, I would save $9 per month. Almost enough to add a premium movie package.
Let us not forget 223 Vision TV and 402 NBATV seem to be in AT50. :)

I grew up in Western MA. We got an NBC affiliate in Schenectady and a CBS affiliate in Albany well. The ABC affiliate was there but snowy. I remember being amazed when I went on vacation and saw ABC shows without snow. They were still awful but they looked so much better. Maybe I thought they filmed them that way.
PBS was on the dial but my father always complained about the use of the UHF tuner (to this day I don't get that) and it was truly unwatchable anyway.
When I first got cable there were 36 count 'em 36 channels. You had to rent a cable box and there was no remote. I was still in heaven. Now I complain about AT 150. Perhaps we would all be better off with AT 50. Just a thought.

That won't happen. There's a reason why FoxNews is on AT100, and that's because it costs a pretty penny, and isn't as ingraned as a necessity as ESPN which of course costs even more. BTW, do you get Fox Sports Detroit up there?
