I thought I had read somewhere, and I could be WAY off here, that the white dishes were used on non-residential accounts. not sure why they would do that.

Looks cool to me... now if DirecTv sold them with team logo's on them... They might have an increase in installs.

look at the pic again white dish and arm grey lnb assembly
Take a look at this (scroll all the way down)
http://hr20.dbstalk.com/Slimline%20SWM%20ODU%20LNB%20First%20Look.pdf
As you can see the sun reflection does not make the slimeline dish white.
Also notice that the DirecTV logo is a dark grey and not blue like the white one. Also, the white slimeline does not say slimeline on the dish, but the grey one does.

There's probably at least 20-30 of them down pit row....
I've seen these for around $1500... http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/Winegard-Travler-Satellite-Antenna-DIRECTV-Slimline_W0QQcmdZViewItemQQcategoryZ50069QQihZ005Q QitemZ150249349134QQrdZ1QQsspagenameZWDVW

Considering they bought the main sponsor rights to the new unified IRL/IndyCar/CART [Whatever they want to be called] league I'd say they have every right to have their logo everywhere and will.

Their name is definitely everywhere... especially on pit row... but I have seen the Dish 'divver' commercial like 5 times...

I saw another shot of them from the 'DirecTV Track Cam'... and they don't appear to be the auto tracking dishes.. They appear to be mounted to a 8-10 foot poll...

Gentlemen (and ladies), please...
There's only one logical answer for the white slimline dishes, and you're illustrating it here. They exist to be noticed on camera. Since DirecTV is a sponsor of the Indy Car series now, they most likely supplied all the teams with those very photogenic dishes, replete with DirecTV's full color logo.

Well as a DirecTV subscriber I would like to be able to purchase a White DirecTV Dish.;)
Besides with a White DirecTV Dish you wouldn't notice the Bird Poop as much!.:D

Don't know how much of a market there would be, but I guess the Fathead folks could probably whip up a vinyl wrap for dishes. For the most part they already have the licensing in place. I'd think that the licensing would be the biggest expense in the whole process.
