View Full Version : Grounding Question

Currently I have a Slimline AU9 dish and one HD box hooked up. I want to add
two more boxes and am looking for some help in terms of the grounding situation
for that set-up. I assume I still need the ground wire (messenger) from the dish to the grounding block, which would now be a quad grounding block since I want to add two more boxes for a total of three ? Then run a ground wire from the block to the ground rod ?

Any help would be appreciated. My Father originally helped me when we installed
the dishes together and he knew his stuff when it came to electrical things. He passed
away last year so I am kind of on my own trying to do this upgrade.

I'm not sure if its correct but here's how mine is.
dish grounded to rod at installation point. dish is on opposite side of house of my house ground rods so I placed a rod there too.
messenger wire also going from dish to 4 port ground block, this was already in place so when i changed coax few weeks back I left it.
ground block has short (3 foot) run from it to my wb616 switch to ground that.
ground clock also has ground wire running from it to the existing ground rods (tied to both rods at end of wire) for the house. at this point my electrical service ground is also located.

keep in mind I don't know if its right. I did tie into house system, but there is that extra rod at the dish.
