Forgive me if this has been discussed, but I couldn't find any answers by searching.

Ok, shows occasionally run longer than usual, especially during sweeps... special 90 minute CSI, or like last night the 90 minute Fear Factor. I wondered if the 721 was going to have a problem so I checked the guide and sure enough, it showed a 90 minute block 8-9:30 and the red PVR event dot was on it. It did NOT record the last 30 minutes. I would have noticed the red light not being on if the other tuner wasn't busy recording another program.

Now, since I had this setup as a weekly PVR event, would I have to first cancel the weekly timer to set it up as a one-time event? I suppose I could have ADDED a redundant one-time 90 minute event on top of the weekly, but I had another program I wanted to record. It sucks if the only real way to fix it is to cancel the weekly because then you have to go back and set it up all over again.

This should be addressed in the next upgrade, according to the reports here. You will be able to set a one-time 90 minute timer, then you will get the conflict screen which will give you the option to do a "skip once" on the weekly 60 minute timer. Again, if the reports posted here are correct.

As far as I know, the 721, 501 and 508 have
no way to cancel a weekly timer temporarily
or "one time only." Pretty stupid. Many posters
here have repeatedly suggested that E*
allow PVR users to cancel weekly, or daily
timers "one time only," in some future
software release. So far, E* hasn't seen
the wisdom of doing just that.
Dbronstein, I hope what you say is true.
While I'm on the soapbox, I also wish they would enable a method of deleting one or two
items from the search history instead of
being forced to delete the entire list.
Yaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaa!

dbronstein is correct... next version will have "skip once" feature.

Although that's a decent work around for a time based recorder, it's just too bad it can't do some routines to notice the program was extended or shortened and record the proper amount listed in the guide. I guess it could run into conflicts, and who's gonna be around at 4 am when a guide downloads in the background and suddenly there's a conflict because Friends is 40 minutes and that conflicts with Survivor and some other show?

When my old Replay had something like that happen (one tuner) it just stayed with the first show until it finished then switched over to the other one in-progress. If you preferred to get all of the second show, you'd have to do it manually.
