Woohoo for the Protection Plan!

Ironwood is coming out to drop off a WB68 for me tomorrow (between 12 & 4).
Then, they're coming out to another location to realign my dish on Saturday, between 12 & 4.

I wonder if I'll get the same guy on both days? :-P

So, for the fist call. The techs coming out, Ive got 3 DVRs, and 3 standard receivers, and I'm considering swapping one of the standard receivers with another tivo. Right now, there's a powered 4x8 (SAM-4803). Unfortunately, that leaves me atleast one output short. So the tech is coming out, and I called Ironwood, they're bringing a WB68. My intention is to use 4 power-passing splitters, and ask the tech to make me a couple of 1ft cables.

For the second call... Im getting pixelization on my locals (119). Every thing was fine up until real recently, then poof, it dropped to 39. I'm hoping its a bad LNB the way the signal fluctuates. Otherwise I get to play with the multiswitches, which I have limited access.

Tell the first tech about the second appointment. He should do everything on one. If not, he'll get dinged with a repeat call when guy #2 shows up.

Trees maybe? Or a bad line to the 119 side on the switch ?

Thanks Robert, its actually 2 different locations.
Mertzen, Its possible that its trees, as things have started to bloom, however, I based on looking at the dishs angle verses the trees, Im not too sure. Thats why I am having the tech come out.

The tech came out and was... impolite, to say the least. Thats contrary to the majority of my dealings with Ironwood.
I called ironwood this morning to (once again) confirm my appointment. They told me the tech would call me after his current job and/or 30 minutes prior to arriving. 12:00 rolled around and I heard nothing, I blew it off. Got here at 12:30, still hadn't heard anything. 1:00 he shows up.

I let him look around, then I explained the situation. I needed 1 WB68, 4 splitters, and 8 1ft cables.
He didnt want to hear about it, so, I blew it off, and let him go. After about 20 minutes, I went to check on him. He was up realigning my dish (this one was starting to slip, it'd dropped into the 80's, but I wasnt complaining yet), that was cool. I offered him some water, which he accepted.
When he completed the job, I went out to find he'd removed my SAM-4803, and put 2 WB68's in its place. He didn't run them in parallel like I'd asked, but I didn't want to deal with his bad attitude. I tried to ask him to just leave me the stuff I'd asked but he was "in too much of a rush."

I appreciated the fact that he realigned the dish, that was cool. I didn't have any cash or, even though I didn't appreciate the attitude, I would've tipped him.

Soo, now we wait for tomorrow.

Well. DTV should have scheduled this in one call,,, but they are like that. As far as the tech giving you splitters, and 8 1ft cables,, etc,,, you shouild be willing to pay for those. DTV only pays the tech for a service call,, they don't pay him for making you extra cables and supplying you with splitters that have to come off his inventory. Pay the guy for his troubles. he is only making very little on the service call.

You can't schedule one service call for two seperated addresses.

In my experience it takes over one day to change a work order. MASTEC says only DTV can change a work order and the DTV CSR stated that work orders are generated by the HSPs.

Just because things are confused or incorrect does not mean the things should be done correctly and on time. In times of great confusion back charge both techs!

Got it?

Todays install went... awesome.
The tech came out, realigned my dish, and meanwhile we had a decent conversation (which I didnt expect to do but... it was cool). He talked about the SWMLine, which he said they'll start installing within a few weeks, and one of his coworkers brought down a crapload of SWM-5's and SWM-8's about 2 months ago. They started reaching them through official channels about 2 weeks ago. He told me about the training they went through and what-not.

It was cool.
He made me some jumpers too. I only had $10 though :(
