I have had EI for several years and this is the first I have seen this. I have an HR20 and recorded a game between the Twins and the Yankees on channel 735-1. About every minute, for about a minute, a message on the bottom of the screen pops up and says "For ordering information call customer service ext. 736" Has anyone ever seen this if you have already purchased the package?

Yes it happens to me, its annoying. It happens for two reasons: when you are recording 2 channels, and one auto tunes to the game and stays on the game. and
D* records the game for 6 hrs. which is usually too long. When the game is over the channel still records, you get the blue d* screen for a while, then you get the 736 (so you are really just recording a 736 error)

The workaround:

Stop the recording (if you get that pop-up, you know the game is over), and change the channel to a channel you get all the time (I use a local).

I have only had to do a menu reset once to clear the issue after doing the above steps.

EI on D* has a LOT of problems.
D* needs to stop the stupid the stupid popup box and leave the 736 on the channel only.

What other problems do you have with EI on DirecTV as opposed to others?

The fact that Dish doesn't carry it?
The fact that cable doesn't carry HD?
That no one else has the StrikeZone channel?

I've never had the problems you guys complain of. Maybe it's just in this new release...
