Is dish allowing a small # of ppv's without a phone line?

just did an install and went to show them it wouldn't work

without a phone line when i get you just purchased 'blue crush' 3.99

Ithought they got rid of that crap a long time ago.

As far as I know it's always been that way. Never heard that they were going to change it.

For the umpteenth time, you do not need a phone hook-up to order PPVs!

As an installer you should know this by now!

The purchase is recorded on the smart card. The phone connection is how the purchase record is uploaded to DISH for billing.

If the cust keeps ordering PPVs at some point they will get an error screen instructing them to connect the phone line.

BTW, who's gonna pay for the PPV you just bought your customer?

I sure hope he forked over four bucks to them and didn't call Dish and whine.

o.k. I was obviously wrong.Yes I paid the four bucks.No I didn't whine to dish.However I just tried it on my 501 my 6000 a freinds 3900 different account and our sons 508 different account.No past or present ppv purchases.All said needs to dial out to update the smart card.Must be a time limit.

It's stupid that you have to use a phoneline for gettting ppv I don't have a phoneline near my box.

Since the upload of the data is by phoneline it makes sense to me.

I use one of those plug in jacks. It works fine for this purpose.
