Anyone notice 522's and issues with the phone line? I had two service calls today with 522's locking up the phone line. I asked E* if there was a recent software upgrade, and she said the last one she could see was in May (15th IIRC) I didn't think to ask the customer when the issue started though. Just wandering if anybody else is seeing this, or did I run into an isolated incident.

I still have a 522. I don't seem to have any problems. I could run the diagnostic tonight, but it doesn't give that warning when you start up the receiver that the phone line isn't connected. And my wife uses the phone all the time, so there hasn't been any problems there either. :)

I just replaced a 522 because it seemed to be preventing callerID from reaching any of the other callerID-enabled devices in my house (phones, my VIP622 and a callerID "ball"). If I disconnected the 522 from the line, callerID would resume working on all of the other devices. If I reset the 522 (hold down the power button for some period of time) then it would usually work once only, then stop working again... until I disconnected or reset the 522. :nono2:
Disconnecting other devices one-by-one in the house didn't seem to solve the problem. I tried leaving several different callerID-enabled devices with the 522, and none of them would function.
Last week I called dish, they replaced the 522, and the new one is still doing the same thing.
One other thing - the 522 is not displaying caller ID info in either case. Also, the phone line test "passes" in all cases.
I did discover that if I disabled callerID from the menu on the 522, that the problem with the rest of the house would go away, so I'm just leaving it turned off. I tried this 3 times (off - works, on - broke, off - works again, on - broke, off - works again) calling my land line from my cel, and it tracked 100%.:)
In reading some previous postings on this and other forums, I see people have had odd problems with the 522 trying to answer the phone and things like that, but I had never seen a report where it actually corrupts or masks the callerID info on other devices. If anyone knows of a description of a problem like I'm describing, please provide a link and I'll go read it. I spent about 20 minutes looking and couldn't find one.
Hope this helps someone else that is confused as I was. (Since the callerID wasn't showing up on the TV connected to the 522 anyway, I haven't lost anything!).:D
SW on the "new" 522 is L466. Not sure what it was on the old one.
