Glad to hear of this! This is the kind of thing that should be going on all over this country in all business sectors rather than transferring customer servicing off-shore as so many are prone to do these days.
I'm impressed. More centers. Even better service. ;)

DirecTV is the call center's sole customer and says it expects to keep most of the center's 633 workers.
No, this was already a call center being used for DirecTV, but it wasn't an in house call center. PRC files for bankruptcy protection and tells DirecTV that if they don't buy it, then it will be shut down.
It was only logical to keep an existing call center open rather than have to train another 600 employees at a new facility.

This is correct. It was a win for the employees and DirecTV which I'm sure would have rather had it remain as outsourced will be bringing on trained reps that are already on their system.
PRC expanded way too much with questionable deals last year and is bailing on the bad contracts/centers through sales and bankruptcy protection.
The call center business is just ugly from a profit perspective.
I thought they did that last year?

They may have bought other call centers last year. I don't know how many more of the centers PRC has/had dedicated to DirecTV...if there are any others I would expect the same sort of deal.

While it's nice that DIRECTV is bailing out that call center. However, Huntington is not the only call center PRC has that supports DIRECTV.
I'm happy for the people in Huntington but there are others who are not so lucky.

Who says Cheney doesn't fish with a firearm? Dead fish float.

The WV call center is about 70 miles from me, and for some reason, I got CSRs from there often when I was making changes to my DirecTV account.
Those CSRs were the best-informed CSRs I have talked with since becoming a customer. This is a good call center, in my experience.
