A new kind of HR-21 freeze, at least for me

My HR21-700 has never been particularly prone to freezing, maybe once or twice in the 8 months that I've had it. A couple of weeks ago I added an AM21. This hasn't seemed to cause any new problems, until maybe this morning when I saw my HR21 freeze in a strange way.

Last night, when I turned the unit off, I had been watching a local channel OTA using the AM21. When I turned everything on this morning, I saw the blue ring light up and spin, but I never saw any video on my TV. The TV is connected to the HR21 directly through HDMI. I tried cycling power, but the HR21 would not power down using the remote.

I can also view the HR21's component video out through my Slingbox. So, I went to my PC and connected to the Slingbox. There was video there. It was live video from the local OTA station I had been watching last night. Interestingly, the HR21's channel banner was present on the top of the screen and never disappeared. The HR21 was totally unresponsive to IR remote commands or front panel button pushes.

So, I did a RBR and everything came back up in good working order.

I have had this happen a couple of times with my HR21/AM21... There is a certain OTA channel here, that if I put the units into standby tuned to that channel, it sometimes will result in a frozen screen the next morning. Usually I am able to change channels to correct the issue. It's only been frozen solid 1 time from this. Hopefully this issue will be ironed out in a future software update. :)
