Hi,

I hope I can get some answer about this. When I watch CBS (OTA or the dish channel), I get a very disturbing line on top edge of the my 60" big screen. I only get this on CBS 4:3 material. HD is ok and I have not seen the same problem in any other channel. Any help or comments will be appreciated. I get CBS from NYC. Thanks.

Try going to the HDTV setup menu (Menu, 6, 1, 9) and try "Adjust" and then pressing the blue up/down buttons to move the raster to better fit your TV.

I did this and line gets hidden on top but it messes up the 4:3 geometry at the bottom of the screen. Anyone else, experience this. It might be a receiver problem since I do not see the same thing in my 721 on CBS. Just a though occur to me as I was typing this. Let me check the cbs local channel on the 8000 to see if exhibits the same behavior.

I get the same thing on our local FOX digital station, but only on the widescreen channel. I can adjust it out while viewing in HD mode, but if I record something to tape in SD mode, the noise line is there and there is no adjustment for SD mode.

I've had other 6000 users in my area check the same channel and they do not have the results I do. It's weird that it only happens with one channel.

Here is something weird that happened yesterday. After replacing the cables going to the OTA module, I got a white vertical line on the left side of the screen (on normal mode). The line was unbroken at first but as time passed by it became unbroken. By 11pm (from 2pm) the vertical line on Fox dissapear but the top horizontal line is still on cbs.

Here is an image that I posted at another forum:

mot,

The equipment used by some broadcasters creates such a line at the edge of the image. You're not intended to see it, because it supposed to be hidden by the overscan on your set. As davhol noted, you can go into the 6000's HDTV setup and adjust the position of the image on your display so that this line is hidden.

You are right. I started paying attention to this more and while watching HD programs the line goes away whenever the broadcaster changes from 16x9 to 4x3. It goes back after they finish broadcasting HD. The same thing happens with Fox.

I tried your suggestion by going to the setup and adjust the width of the 4x3 screen but while it did hide the top (this line), it will bring the bottom of the screen to a level that is distracting while watching TV. I have a 60" Rear Projection TV and may be this is why I can see this line. Well, I do not think there is anything wrong with the 6000 unit.

Thanks.

Did you have a technican calibrate your set to near 0% overscan? Or did you do this yourself? If you would enter the service menu, and increase the overscan slightly, this would eliminate the problem.

Could the horizontal line be the closed caption info in the video signal?
