Hey All - we just returned from a long weekend away. Before leaving, I turned off the power strip for all my AV equipment. All other connections were left untouched. Upon returning this evening, the receiver has been trying to acquire signal. It's been trying for about an hour now with no success.
I've talked w/ Dish support, and they're sending a tech out (not until Friday though), but I was just wondering if this sort of thing is typical after being powered down for an extended time. Thanks!
Did you have any strong winds there over the weekend? Check the bolts on your dish make sure they are tight. Also try a check switch. If all that fails let the tech figure it out. Could be your LNB went bad or your reciever went bad. You will normally get this after being unplugged which is what you essentially did by shutting off your power strip, but it shouldnt last more than 5 minutes or so and your picture should come back. Hope this helps.

Hey Ashh - thanks for the reply. So I checked again this morning, and it's working perfectly. Incredibly frustrating. Anyway - I think I'm good now.

It's best to keep all satellite receivers powered up 24/7. They send critical software and EPG updates in the middle of the night that you will miss if you pull the plug.

Yah - I normally do. We were heading out of town, though, and a pretty nasty severe storm-generating front was set up to camp out in the area for the next few days, so I decided to play it safe and unplug.

There is that consideration too (about the storms) ..
I have my DVR on a UPS now - and I think it is a good idea for everybody.
That being said - a UPS may interfere with the HomePlug interfaces.
