I'm hoping someone can assist me with identifying the Mac Address for the following receivers.
1) HIRD-D1
2) HIRD-E1
When going through the menu the Receiver ID value indicated Unit 1 for both receivers.
You mean the HNS IRD's?!?

No ethernet, thereby no MAC.
But, you could always check it in reverse order via your router.

As CJTE mentioned, are these devices with network jacks on them? They dont even sound like Directv receiver models.

I think the OP might be talking about the Hughes Directv HIRD-D1 & E1 receivers, at least that's what a google search leads me to believe.
If so, they're old SD boxes with no network capabilities, thus no MAC address.

Then how can DirecTV send the correct VOD or PPV program to the correct STB? Do they use only the card or the card and a unique identifier? (i.e. STB S/N).

VOD is done via an internet connection, which those older boxes don't have. PPV uses the card (and possibly the STB) serial number. They are experimenting in the latest CE releases with some other methods using uPnP, but I have no idea what the eventual use will be (currently it provides a daily fortune).
Ugh, then why did I buy this $400 S-Video -> Ethernet adapter from that guy on Ebay??!?
