DirecTV and Disney are engaged in a carriage dispute involving ABC Family that may lead to the dropping of the network on March 31.
Here we go again.

Well at least now we know that Dish is not always the one that has disputes of channels every year.
No Dish has them all the time, atleast one or two a year. DirecTV rarely has one.

Dish appears to be the leader. :D

There must obviously be an issue with the channel pricing if Dish and Direct both have some type of objection towards ABC Family. I thought I seen someone post a while back about cable companies going to possibly drop ABC Family during the time Dish was considering that.

Di$ney is demanding a 35 percent increase in fees to carry ABC Family according to a post of a story Scott G. posted in the Directv Forum.
Apparently ABC-F carriage is linked to ESPN-HD.
W/o ESPN-HD, DirecTV and its partners (RCA, Sony, etc) can write off the HD set market.
They need to pay up and get this resolved.

IIRC, Disney paid a premium for the Fox Kids properties, which included Fox Family. Part of their plan to pay for the expenditure was through rate increases.
And, some of the programming aired on ABC Family doesn't seem to be "family oriented". After all, they did run a Alias maration during New Years day.

How do we know that? I bet D* has them just as much as E*, but DirecTV never publicizes it. I DO appreciate the fact that the providers stand up to big media owners and do publicize it. If a channel is going to disappear (whether I watch it or not) I would like to know.
