At Officemax. $269 - $50 instant rebate - $50 mail in rebate. Go to officemax.com, and click on the weekly circular, and you should see it on the first page. It is a cendyne dvd-r/rw.

Thinking of building a new computer soon, and might have to pick this up.

Man, I'm amazed at the type of computer I can get now a days for very few dollars. I'm looking at an AMD XP 2200, a feature filled MSI motherboard (new one with on board video/firewire/usb 2.0/dolby digital), 512 meg ram, and case for about $380.

Just need to get a cheap harddrive to get me started (figure can find a 60 gig with rebate at some point for about $50), purchase this dvd -rw for $169. Use existing monitor. Already have windows xp too.

So for a grand total of $600, I have everything I need to start burning some dvd's (already have canon zr60). Have to get a bigger hard drive down the road, but this is a good start.

I would want 60GB free, so if a 2nd drive the 60GB ok, otherwise if only drive you might want to go for a 80 or 100 GB drive.

2 Hours of DV = 25GB
2 Hours of DV encoded = 4GB (depends on quality but this is avg)
Authoring Temp files = 5-10GB (my author program makes the VOB files and then an ISO file that is used to burn.

So one project = 40GB, you might have some stuff waiting for authoring so 60GB free preferred, If you are strategic with deletion you can get by with 30GB free but its a pain.

Sounds great Mark. I just upgraded my computer to an AMD XP 2100, MSI KT4 Ultra motherboard, 512 MB of DDR RAM and new case for $280. Now this thing flies. Love the speed and the price was right.
