View Full Version : MFH2 & DirecTiVo?

I think I might have messed up, but maybe I'm missing something that y'all can point me towards... We signed a lease on a north-facing apartment that they say is wired for DirecTV, via DirecPath. I see 5-LNB dishes on each building, so I assume this complex has the new MFH2 setup.

Is there any way to use something like the SCD-4P52W to get just the 101/110/119 satellites on a DirecTiVo (old Hughes variety)?

(The lease is not yet final, so if this is impossible I may have to see if this is a deal-breaker for the wife. We can get HR20 units at Costco, but have avoided doing so because neither of us likes the new interface.)

A 5 LNB dish does not gurantee it is MFH2. I would check with the system operator first.

Next, you can not use a SCD-4P52W on a MFH2 system as far as I know. So the Directv Tivo receivers will not work on an MFH2 system. Only the 20 or 21 versions.

Finally check with the System Operator to see if they are going to continue, assuming they have MFH2, to keep the old stacked 101 and 110/119 system up and running. If they are then you don't have anything to worry about.

If you want to watch HD channels, you are going to need to upgrade to a HR20/21 before very long in any case, as even the limited MPEG2 offerings will be going away. Upgrading of MDU systems to MFH-2 will accelerate that process.

If the property in question isn't MFH2 already, it will be "on an aggressive schedule" to get there. That being the case, only SWM compatible receivers will work going forward.

As suggested above, you need to ask this question of DirecPath or the property management.

Sorry to resurrect this thread, but I have an additional question:

I asked a DirecPath installer today about their system, and he said it's a "stacked system." Through some testing, a D11 with the internal destacker enabled does work for all three satellites. So, my question is: Can I use something like the SCD-4P52W with a multiswitch to drive three DirecTiVos? I do not have any HD receivers, so all I care about is 101W. It looks like the 4P52W acts as a multiswitch on its own, so would this simply be like cascading multiswitches?

(I understand that this setup will never, ever let me have HD content. However, when/if the day comes that I'm really interested, I will either change apartments to have my own dish or see if my complex has gone to MFH2 and get a few HR21s. :) )

SCD-4P52W is a two port customer device. Only works with a MFH-1 System. It's more of a destacker then a multiswitch.

never heard of that before- d11 internal destacked giving all three birds, you only get the 101 in stacked mode
