Hello fellow nerds and nerdets, just writing in today to talk and ask you guys a few questions on running OS X 10.5.2 on an Pc. I know probably not the best place to go for questions but hey I like the site and its not blocked at work.

So here is what I've done so far, and for the people unaware of this hack I'll explain. Basically intel now makes processors for macs, and some bright individual put 2 and 2 together and made a bootable Mac dvd that would run on most intel based cpu's (now even some AMD's will work)

After about 8 reformats and installs I've got it running, but I'm still working on getting the sound and eithernet card to work, but everything else is smooth as butter.

my specs are

Mb: P5n32-e Sli 680i
GPu: Nvidia 8800gt 512mn
CPU: Q6600 intel quad core
HDD: 1.5tb
ram: 4gb Hyper X2 DDr2
sound card: Razer Hp-1

If anybody has a similar setup or has experimented with the Kalyway 10.5.2 hack please message me or reply. I'll post walkthrough if requested:D
also if their are any Mac heads out their please feel free to post tips cause I've never used an apple os before (loving it)

Go to the osx86 project.

I'm guessing this conversation is not long for this forum, since technically you're violating the OSX terms of service (which do say that you can only install Mac OSX on macintosh hardware. It's a bit of a gray area since intel now makes mac hardware, etc, etc, etc,....

But it's hacking, bypassing the OSx security, etc, etc.... and generally not something that we talk about here.

didnt really think of it that way, I did buy a retail copy from newegg not to be considered a pirate (i just wanted to test the os without spending much)

but, it is a confusing matter indeed. You think apple would be happy to have their user base increase regardless.

It's a gray area, but the mods tend to err on the side of caution here.

I've had this discussion with other people as well. I know people who won't ever buy a mac becasue it's too expensive. But if they could build a PC and install OSX, they probably would. You'd think Apple would be happy getting the $100 or whatever for OSX as opposed to getting nothing.

The flip side of the coin is that the OSX86 project is a pretty prevalent website/forum. IF Apple was unhappy with the hackintosh movement, you'd think they'd start there and people would have heard about it. I haven't heard of anyone being prosecuted, or even threatened, by Apple for building a Hackintosh.

Just pointing out that the TOS do, in fact, state somewhere in there that you aren't supposed to install OSX except on Apple hardware... which means you've wandered into a gray area that usually doesn't get discussed very long here.

This really isn't the place for this discussion... Apple does consider it hacking. The OSX86 project is really where you want to be.
