So I see that I'm not the only one having problems with the HD on 129. I lose signal on it for no apparent reason, i.e. perfectly sunny day without a cloud in sight. Sometimes it works just fine, other times it can't even find a signal, and there seems to be no rhyme or reason to it, it's a complete crap-shoot. I see that the most problems seem to be in the North, but I'm in Texas. HD on other sats and all my other channels work just fine. So is there a fix for this? Will customer service help me out, or just say that's the way it is? I don't know why I'm paying for channels that only work 50% of the time.

You didn't state what kind of setup you have but I'm assuming you have a 1000 dish. I live in Nebraska and to fix my 129 problems I pointed a separate dish at 129. I sold my 1000 to a friend and bought two dishes on ebay. One pointing at 110/119 and the other at 129. Now I only lose signal during heavy rain.

Tell me your complete set up with switches and your current receiver, I had a problem just like this with the 129 and the 110 occasionally but mostly with the 129.

We probably have the same set-up because I also have an occasional problem with the 110. I have a 722 receiver and a Dish 1000. I'm not sure about the switches, I'll have to check when I get home later tonight.

It's most likely the same reception issues a lot of us with a Dish1000/.2/+ have with 129. You can try re-peaking your dish to optimize your 129 signal, it might help, though it would degrade your 110/119 signals a bit. Otherwise the only other option to get a stronger, more solid signal, would be a separate dish aimed at 129.

So is this something Dish will come out and correct for me? It's a fresh install less than 2 months old and these channels have given me problems from day one. I mean, it's a service I'm paying for and they knew exactly what channel package I had when they did the install, so they should at least be obligated to give me the proper set-up. Will they throw in the second dish if I need one, or is that something I'll just have to do on my own?

I know I can just call and talk to a csr about all this, but it's always hit and miss with those guys. Sometimes you get someone who knows what they're doing, others don't know they're a$$ from a hole in the ground. So I'm curious if anyone has actually gone through this with them and what exactly they are willing to do.

Your installation should still be under warranty. Have you talked to Technical Support about this? Dish will (should) provide you with the proper equipment to receive HD programming. If that means installing a separate dish, as they did for me, they will do that.

I have and I talked to 4 people in a matter of 20 minutes, first one was an HD tech and I told him my dish was hitting around 20 pts and he said that is a problem so he trans me to an general tech who was the dumbest thing in the world, I have no trees in sight and she telling me that I need to trim my trees back after telling her 3 times that it isn't the trees, and then she goes if I send a tech out there and there are trees in the way the tech can't do anything about, i said i know, after that I was really aggravated and asked to talk to a manager and this guy knew what he was talking about and apologized for the duh duh head and we got a tech out there.

The Problem,
apparently we got a tech out here (i wasn't home) my mom was home (that was the problem) She just told the tech to install not knowing what or where nor did she follow the guy around like I always do. We had a 500 and upgraded to a 1000.2 before that, 4 month prior to the same tech replaced our lnb which is on a very steep angle. He comes to install the 1000 and says he not climbing the roof and all of that bs so my moms like what ever and he leaves the 500 and puts up the 1000.2 in another location. We have 2 DP 301 receivers and getting a vip 722 installed and for some dumb reason installs a DPP44 I don't know if he was stupid or didnt know better. Well we had another tech a different one and the problem was the DPP44 went bad after 3 months with a power inserter they were puttting too much power through the dish and fried 3 vip 722 and ruined a 301 by doing this after he removed it without adjusting the dish and it went to 70 pts on the 129. IT IS PRETTY BAD WHEN THE CONSUMER CAN INSTALL IT BETTER THAN THE TRAINED PROFESSIONAL!!!!!

Well he should have just ran new cables to ground blocks and then one to each receiver. But he didn't, oh well, not the end of the world. You could get some high frequency ground blocks and just take the 44 out of the equation all together, run a check switch and put that 44 on eBay and make some $$$. However, instead of blaming the tech for equipment problems, why don't you blame yourself for not being home on the install date if it was THAT big of deal? I know that I would never schedule anything to be done at my house if I knew that my wife didn't know what was going on. On the top of your service agreement that your mom signed should be a number for your local office, why don't you call up and ask for the FSM and tell him your grievances and see what can be done about it, that's a much better way than going through a CSR. Hope this helps.

That's not really a fair criticism. What if the customer is not tech savvy? What if it's a nice retired lady who just wants to see wrestling in HD? :) The whole idea of having the installer is so that every customer dosesn't need to be an expert on this stuff. Having said that, these installs are much more complicated than the olden days of say 1996 when a simple dish 300 pointed at one sat was good to go.
