The only minor tidbit that I heard Charlie refer to was in regards to weather.

The caller asked about weather details like you get from The Weather Channel when you have cable and they break to a local feed with more local details than instant weather gives.

As was posted in a previous thread, it would be interesting to see more local weather details. Such as Satellite images shot down for local areas.

It was interesting to hear Charlie say that now with the spot beams they may be able to add some more weather features.

Maybe E* has been getting ideas from DBSTalk again ;-)

Tony you were right the Dr.Pepper chat was much more fun :D My favorite part of the chat is not the actual chat, but the pre chat festivities :)

I only saw the last 10 minutes. When I heard Charlie's answer to adding HBO Zone & Oxygen, I knew I missed nothing. My thought on Zone is that yes, you can probably see most of it's programming on one of the other channels, however, I would have to believe that we only need one of the HBO2 channels. I think they should swap HBO2W for HBO Zone.

Get a PVR, I watched the entire show in about 15 minutes.

With leaks, rumors and good ideas here Charlie probably checks here before the chats:)

Why does it take spot beams for more detailed local forcast? It's not that much bandwidth to add a few lines for the next 36 hours.

Forget it, kid. I happen to enjoy the west feeds on premiums in the early morning hours. And the time-shifting as well.

I hope they don't waste their energy on swapping an HBO for HBO Zone. "You can satisfy some of the people all of the time, but you can never satisfy all of the people all of the time." That is especially true about the HBOs. Oxygen is pure propaganda at its worst. It's basically a televised podium for limousine liberals.

Well, at least they had Leo Laporte for a little color.  I wish they would be a little more forthright on what is happening with HDTV.  He did mention that they are trying to get HDNet, ESPN and NBC in HDTV, but made no mention on it's status.  He mentioned ESPN-HD will start "later this year"... LIKE BEFORE THE NEXT CHARLIE CHAT!!!  He also stated he hoped to get it "later this year".

Charlie said that you could get any of the stuff on HBO Zone on any of the other HBO channels using a PVR. My point is, HBO2 and HBO Zone have completely different schedules. I understand the need for HBO E & HBO W, (Saturday night premiers, boxing etc..) however, HBO 2 E & HBO 2 W give absolutely no value. If you watch a movie on HBO 2 E, take a break, come back and see what's on, obviously HBO 2 W is not going to provide any variety whatsover. HBO Zone does show the same movies as the other channels but not 3 hours after it started airing on an East Coast feed.

So is Charlie now going to start saying a PVR is the answer for everything the way he used to say the merger was the answer for everything?

Don't hold your breath, remember a lot of people are still complaining about the lack of West Coast feeds. As PVRs rise in popularity, this my reduce in severity, but I don't see E* reducing west coast feeds anytime soon.
