Even though Army Wives doesn't appear to be a hit on this board, last "Sunday’s episode of the most successful series in the network’s 24-year history was the evening’s most-watched cable drama among women and posted a household rating of 3.4" according to MultiChannel News (http://www.multichannel.com/article/CA6573040.html?desc=topstory).
The season opener had a shocking twist that virtually nobody on the web claimed to anticipate even 10 minutes before the end. Even cynical male professional reviewers admitted shock and tears (hey, there was nothing else to review that night anyway, so they watched).
I had some fears about this season. There were writer changes. It's on Lifetime. And the opener could have led to alot of trite drama. Instead, Sunday's episode with guest star Bill Cobbs surprising us as "Harry" was a remarkably clever and well written plot line moving us on from the possibly trite.
And the motorcycle is a cool direction.

My wife and I really enjoy the series, I just wish it were in HD instead of over compressed letterbox.

I read where Catherine Bell rides a motorcycle, I wonder if this was her idea?

I can't remember if it was her idea, but it is her bike!! She was thrilled about this arc.
I wish more people would talk about this show. As a former Army wife myself, as well as a 17 year Army Reservist, I love almost everything about this show!!
When they talked about the unsung heroes who continue the search to bring all our military home from any war, I was completely impressed. When Trevor told off that TV reporter, I was cheering (loudly!!). When the Commanding General told Trevor that he would have punched out the reporter, I was jumping up and down!!
I loved that they addressed the issue of dual-military couples, but I wish they would have gone into a little more detail about how Family Care Plans work, and how many and how intense the requirements are before dual-military couples with children can stay in the service. Even as a reservist, my husband and I both had to have a family care plan on file, and as we have seen with the Iraq/Afghan wars, that was indeed a necessity.
Love the show!!

Love the show!! My wife and I love this show also and the incidents you mentioned are the reason why.
Actually, its nice to see portrayed the effect the changes in policy that have occurred over the decades. Our last direct contact with the Army died in 1998.
And I am so happy how the writing has handled the fallout of the shocking season opener that left normally jaded male critics admitting to tears. Poignant, but not melodramatic.

I could not agree more. They have been so good at making sure that Amanda's death was not glossed over and "gotten over" in one episode. Every time I think they might actually be done using it as a storyline, something else comes up and you see people grieve again. Very nicely done. And that sad plot-line has come in handy for the general's wife as well, in her bereavement visits to families.

it really does, because sadly for once when someone asks " Have you lost someone close to you?" she can regrettably say yes, like the guy from last week, and they talked for hours upon hours and i truly believe they both felt better...
Glad to see someone else really likes it!
