There are some back-room issues going on behind the scenes at the EKB. They involve HTML code and another major issue going on - but the rest is under non-disclosure agreement. It might lift soon. I have to maintain two code versions of the News Monitor right now, which is why I have not updated this week.
As a result, I'm posting Uplink Report Highlights on DBSTalk today. The uplink report is from SatelliteGuys, as JohnH has not posted his yet.
Now available on channel 998: "SMART" on various locations. (See the BULLETIN at the bottom for the only plausible, SMART theory about this.) 5961 also has it.
New MPEG2 SD channel: "TEMP2" on 61.5 and 129, ch 5992. Not available.
Some renumberings and channel changes occurred in the Sirius range. Channels were added and deleted.
Rejoice, Atlanta! WPCH HD is now on 6369 map 17, unavailable. This means Braves games for the Atlanta market, since WPCH broke from TBS last year.
Rejoice, Montana! Two KUSM (Montana PBS) channels were added with Bozeman, MT flags, as was a K20HB channel without a flag:
8748 map 49
8855 map 40
9345 map 20
They are on different satellite transponders at 110 (K20HB is on 148), so NOT mirrors. The mappings are likely derived from local repeaters of KUSM. Wikipedia redirects K20HB to KUSM's entry, implying a repeater.
New data channel on 119: "QBEES". I never knew Dish was a beehive.
5767 and old 5960-61 channels removed.
Package flag changes for Oxygen, WE, Hallmark Channel, G4, Universal HD (which moved to the Essentials package), and MSNBC (my favorite channel besides HGTV).
Rejoice, Grand Rapids, Memphis, Raleigh-Durham, and Chicago! You now have HD locals - again in some cases!
Rejoice, Laredo! You now have SD locals available! Point your dish to 110 and enjoy!
488 and 494 renamed to REAL. Programmer's change?
BULLETIN: An update crossed my wire, and it looks like 998 is related to a round of smart card swapping! Rejoice, smart cards!
Thank you, Raymie Humbert
