After searching and reading many posts, I'm still looking for a little clarification on the para todos elliptical dish. Here's the scenario:

Current setup:
para todos dish (with old lnb's at the 119 and 110 placement)
dish 4000 system
multiswitch that came with p.t. dish

After install, 'check switch' reports that a switch isn't present.

I'm wanting to get the dish/switch configured, then I'm moving to a pvr508.

Questions:
1. Does anyone successfully use the para todos dish to pick up the 119 and 110 sats of dish network?
2. If so, what switch do you use (I'm only going to 1 receiver)?
3. If so, did you lock on to the 119 or 110 sat first?
4. Are all old legacy (dish & dtv) lnb's interchangeable with dish net hardware?

Thanks in advance for any info you can provide.

1. Yes I use a DirecTV Para Todos Dish to get Dish Network. (And was using it also to get DirecTV and ExpressVu)

2. I beleive you want a SW21 switch. (I could be wrong)

3. It dont matter which one first.

4. Yes they are although they are not compatable with the new Dishpro line.

I got the sw21, locked in 119 with a 113 signal -- but can't find the 110. Tried many different elevations/azimuths/skews close to and at the degrees shown on the install screen.

Did you use the skew angle shown with the dish500 setup screen, or some other angle? Would the skew angle be the same for this dish?

When you run a 'check switch', if it shows an 'X' for a switch input, does it mean the lnb is getting no sat signal, or the lnb is not reporting anything back to the switch?

Thanks.

The DirecTV dish is marked the opposite angle on the tilt as the Dish500 skew.

So if the dish500 shows to use a skew of 113 deg., that would mean a tilt of .... 67 deg.??

Make sure that you are not using the 110 lnb that comes with a directv system. They are set at a different frequency, so you will not be able to detect a signal with a dish network receiver.
