Probably too early to ask, but has anyone heard if NBA LP will offer Superfan next season? I would love to see the double feed for each LP game offered. As a Lakers fan I like to get the LA broadcasts. Lucky for me I got most home games on FSN West with LP, but the road games were rarely the LA KCAL broadcasts. I really dislike listening to other network announcers calling the game. Any info is appreciated.

Doesn't the league have to approve something like Superfan? Thought I read that in an EI thread.

I'd love to see it also. I've never had League Pass with D* or my old cable co. so I'm looking forward to next season.

Last year with NHL Center Ice, we got the duel feeds (sometimes both in HD) with out having a super fan option. Personally I would hope NBA League Pass would do the same as the NHL Center Ice

The NBA must approve it. The NHL and MLB did for those other two packages.

I had LP for the 07-08 and I was able to see all of the available HD games from any market. It was great watching the Celts go wire to wire.

I also have the sports pack too and will cancel LP for next season.

Hope this helps.

First, the NBA refused to allow dual feeds in the League Pass package.

Second, the HD games were included at no cost. I would expect that to be the same along with the NHL because neither are all that popular and it wouldn't make sense to have an HD upcharge. They do it with MLB and the NFL because the subscriptions are so much higher and they know they'll get enough Superfan subs to make it worthwhile. Just not enough subs to NBA or NHL to bother. But you still get the HD games anyway. :)

The next time David Stern say ANYTHING about how "fan friendly" the NBA is, just remember it is bull...., not allowing dual feeds is just appeasing the owners and not the fans.

fmrNYkr you do know that living in oakland you wont be able to watch the celtics games in HD ?having just the sports pack youll only be seeing the golden state warriors games in HD. anyway its probably cheaper that way if you just want to watch your local team.

You hit the nail on the head...sad but true.

I'm not sure it is about appeasing the owners -- don't see how they gain/lose one way or the other. Rather, I see not allowing dual feeds as appeasing the cable companies who don't have the bandwidth to do dual feeds (especially in HD) and who would be at a competitive disadvantage to satellite if dual feeds were allowed.

Charter Cable in Reno wont carry NBA League Pass. Thats one of reasons I swiched to DirecTV.:)

You'll never see an NBA LP Super Fan, NHL CI Super Fan or MLS DK Super Fan, why? Competition. DirecTV has NFL fans by the balls and can do whatever they want (you really think NFL ST w/HD would be ~$400 if there was competition), MLB EI Super Fan was announced when DirecTV still thought they had an exclusive on it. Since E* and just about every cable provider has the NBA, NHL and MLS packages, DirecTV is limited with what they can do for competitive reasons and that is a good thing.

Agree, but only up to a point. It's good that there are no add-on "superfan" tiers for the NHL and the NBA (IMHO). However, I'm not a fan of the NBA artificially limiting a provider from offering dual feeds if they desire to use their capacity to do so. The NHL fan has the best of both worlds -- get dual feeds and lots of HD, but with no added "superfan" charge.
