View Full Version : Tech question - 721 + 211 signal loss
I recently swapped out a legacy lnb for a DPP+ twin on my Dish 500. When I tried to hook up my two receivers, a 721 with a Dish seperator and a 211, only one receiver at a time would work. There is no external switch or power inserter being used. Do I need a switch? Both receivers are Dish Pro. The cable runs are not too long . If the cable is RG-59 can that be the issue?
Did you run a switch test on each receiver after you installed the new LNB?
RG-59 could cause a problem but my bet is that you have RG-6 if your orginal install has been in the last 10 years.
Yes, I ran a switch test on each receiver. The original install was( I think) seven years ago.

Many installers were still not using RG-6 much more recently than that. And some RG-6 was often not good to at least 2500mHz, necessary for DPP and seperators.

RG59 is NOT recomended for DBS applications, especially since you're now using DishPro. Too much signal loss above 1000 MHz (1 GHz)
