now that dtv has added & slowly continues to add more & more Hd channels to its line up it there any future plans to add more movie or non music chnnels.
==============================================
one suggestion: maybe when a new channel added dyv, you should run a banner on the screen alongtthe top or bottom say for 24 hrs, letting everyone know a new channel has been added

Directv (not DTV, that stands for digital television) typically doesn't announce new channels until it's time for them to go live so no one really knows what their future plans are when it comes to new channels.
The suggestion is a good idea just to make viewers aware things have been added.
I certainly wouldn't want a banner across all my channels, when there's an existing message system that can do that much more unobtrusively.

You seriously want a banner running across your screen for 24 hours telling you of the new glorious shopping channel that's now available?
Oh please....I'd drop DirecTV in a nanosecond.

DirecTV currently lets its viewers know about new channels through the monthly statements and website. They ought to use the message system that's already in place. I noticed a message about the game lounge free preview in there so maybe they're moving in that direction.
The best place to find out about this kind of stuff is here. The news breaks here before anywhere, usually.

they got the banner adds in the guide already, maybe this would be a real use for them...

They also had a dedicated channel for new HD during the explosion last fall. Just look there (although it would have been nice if they had added on dates there so you could tell what was new that week).
Or just come here.

donald441,
Welcome ot DBSTalk! :welcome_s
There is a thread that is updated when DirecTV adds new HD channels, though it hasn't been used much since D10 settled in. If it's not used when D11 lights up, I'm sure there will be a similar thread then. If you subscribe to the thread, you will get an e-mail notification when new HD lights up.
Here's the current thread: http://www.dbstalk.com/showthread.php?t=97211
Please, DirecTV, please do not run a banner on our screens. Please begin to utilize the messaging capabilites you've already built into the receivers?

When I read your post title, my first thought was the next add-on for a DTV DVR box will be a recorder to capture things before the content expires.

DTV certainly does stand for DirecTV...it's their stock symbol!

I'd like to see them do a little more with the interactive. I actually enjoyed some of the old WINK Interactive more than what I do the DirecTV stuff. I hardly ever use it and its so slow.
Wink actually performed better and had more interesting content....
I just upgraded to receivers that have the new Interactive a couple months ago and was very disappointed. My HR20 is faster than the R-15's. The 15's are very slow at loading.
