gee, another whinny religous faction trying to get thier way.
Al Sharpton and Pat Robertson should get tgether and start thier own country.
Robertson is simply informing his viewers that his show may not be available at convienient times in the future via DirecTV.
What someone who doesn't watch the show might think of the content of his show, or the beliefs, values, politics, etc of Robertson is not relevant to the discussion, since they would never see the statement anyway.
What Robertson is doing is looking out for his own wallet. If D* does not carry ABC Family (a national channel), he will likely lose
viewers and that cuts into his bottom line.
According to a article in the LA Times yesterday, Robertson did in fact ask his viewers to flood Directv with calls. The only reason
ABC Family even carries the 700 Club is because it was a concession they had to make when they purchased to channel.
I doubt they would carry it otherwise. Regardless, the lose of the channel (and the show) are really no lose at all (IMO).

Don't you want to watch Caroline Rhea repeats at 2AM??? :p
Pick YOUR favorite channel and have this done to that.
YOUR calls not to cancel it would be more valid than these people's because?
Whoever has a show on that channel telling people to call in would be more valid that this because?

The main controversy over the call in campain was that the number given out on the 700 club was not the customer service number but the direct line to a DirecTV executive's office. I do not think DirecTV would have complained at all if the number given out was for the customer service phone bank.
It is even more interesting in that Robertson, a few years back, was one of the right-wingers who was urging people to boycott all things Disney. The Lord surely does work in mysterious ways! :)
Its funny seeing how much hate people have when anything "religious" is mentioned. Why not channel that hate a people like Saddam who has a human shredding machine http://www.timesonline.co.uk/article/0,,3284-614607,00.html
There are much worse things going on than having your pannies in a bunch. Must Christian organization's believe it or not try to help people including the 700 club. Like in anything, there are the bad ones out there that people like to trump up all the time, but never mention all the good they do in helping people all over the world.....
Jasonf,
I think that religious leaders and organizations who dedicate themselves to do good works DO get recognized. However, when a specific religion or religious leader moves into the political arena they are fair game for criticism. The 700 club is as much about politics as it is religion. It appears to me that it is also about money.
