I've only had DirecTV for about a month (HR21 w/AM21) which is working fine. I just "purchased" a new H20 from a DirecTV distributor and briefly hooked it up in place of my HR21. In the initial setup, I got an error message stating that two of the satellites had failed...Redo or Continue and fix later? I was pressed for time right then, so I just shut it all down and put it back in the box. (I haven't finished runnung the cables to the room where it will be installed.) I think I read here that the H20 would not recognize two of the sats unless it's software is upgraded. Is this correct? Do I need to "Continue", do the Antenna setup and then force a software download? Do I need to have it activated first? A little help, if you please.

I would redo sat setup and make sure the box is active.

Yes, the bbc that came with the H20 was hooked up. My first thought was a bad bbc but I didn't have time to try it with one of my known-good bbcs on my HR21. (In a cabinet and the devil to get unplugged and replugged! :) )I just thought I had read about having to update the software first.

H20 units have a bug in them for detecting the satellite. use continue and fix later.
it will self upgrade later

Can I force a download?

I would presume so, but I would go through satellite setup first, and then most likely it will prompt you for a download within the first half hour.

Thank you. I'll just do that.
