It was rumoured recently that the Puerto Rico Locals will come on stream soon. The spotbeam signal that was present on transponder 4 of 110 has disappeared in the last few days.
Anyone got any information if/when PR locals are likely to become available? I wonder if people who are already subscribing to distant networks in PR (No local stations carry the big four) will get the locals automatically or if there will be an additional cost.

John,
There will most definitely be an additional cost. Probably the standard $5.99. There is a package discount that may still be available. Locals + 1 set of Distant nets = $8.99. Locals + 2 sets of Distant Nets = $11.99
As to what's happening with PR locals. Dish will not consider offering the PR locals without WAPA, WKAQ and channel 11. If any of those hold out, Dish doesn't want to lauch the market. Again this is all RUMOR...Dish wants to carry all the VHF in the area (including ST. Thomas). I haven't heard anything new this week.
See ya

I do not see why Dish would hold back on PR or AK. They have no reason really not to put up the channels they can work out an agreement with and let market pressure force the other ones to relinquish. With PR and AK they have dedicated spots that cannot be used for anything else. Other markets I understand, if DMA X does not want to play ball, DMA Y under the same spot probably will. Maybe it is the backhaul cost that is keeping them from doing it.

What I dont really know is if the local PR channels are a economic move for dish network because of the market here in PR
