View Full Version : HDMI Extender Info
I am considering upgrading to A HD TV AND hd dvr. Problem is my receiver will have to be upstairs and the coax is run down between the walls. Can I connect the coax to a HDMI extender at the receiver and the HD cable to the extender then to The HD TV. Thanks.
I'm only aware of extenders which run over CAT 6 or 5e

Monoprice has them at http://www.monoprice.com/products/product.asp?c_id=104&cp_id=10419&cs_id=1041907&p_id=2849&seq=1&format=2. Never tried it but usually mono price stuff works.

You will have to buy an HDMI cable which they sell but they are cheap and run up to 100ft np

A couple of companies are coming out with HDMI over coax pieces, but both require 4 or 5 RG6 cables to run.

Why the heck can't Dish make a tuner that put out TV1 and/or TV2 over coax using QAM. Maybe it's not feasible, I don't know enough about the technology, but it seems like a good was to distribute HD.
