In the past 2 weeks it isn't bad enough that my CD burner dies and then my DVD-Rom drive starts acting up, but now my tv dies. 10 minutes ago I was watching last weeks Miracles episode, I accidentally leaned on the tv power button, turned it back on, the screen goes black->light horizontal bars-> pure white->off. First real problem I ever had with any of my Philips stuff. Thank god for extended warranty's though :)

Sorry to hear about your problems bud. I hope it dosen't take too long before you get it repaired or replaced. The way my luck is going , I'm expecting to get my house zapped by lightning this summer.Florida lightning storms are the worst.I'm thinking about getting the surge protection insurance my power co. offers.I guess they put A heavy-duty surge protector at the power box,and give you 7 or 8 regular surge protectors for your electronics, and cover you with A good policy for A one time payment of $50.00 , and $5.00 A month. A neighbor down the road already got his house struck this year.It cost him his TV and microwave.
Steve, can I assume that you immediately
cranked up your back-up TV and brought it
online without missing more than a minute
or two of essential television programming?

I know what you mean Steve. In the past month I also had a TV die on me and also my Digital 8 video camera (the heads are worn). My 27" TV was in the back bedroom. Luckily, Best Buy had a cheap Sansui 27" with S-Video inputs for $179. Actually for a cheap TV of that size, the PQ is quite good. Don't know how long it will last but hey, it works. :)

Actually Nick, unfortunately nope :( My old (from 1992) Philips 19" TV doesn't have an svideo in, and I don't feel like re cabling everything to from svideo to composite just for 5 days. I have a trusty RadioShack adapter, but at the moment can't find it. TV repair guy should be here Saturday, oh well, this is the perfect excuse for me to start that history project on art from the 1960s :)
Chris does your D8 still work at all? I know you had yours for a while, but those are very nice camcorders, to this day I'm still stunned by the pq when using svideo.

Yes, everything else works on the camera but I had tons of hours on the heads transferring stuff to DVD. I got 4 years of service and probably over 100 hours which isn't too shabby. I'm shopping now for a new one and will probably get the TRV-350 which has all of the features I need at a good price (around $450). I really like the Sony cameras and will stick with them.

Well I just ordered my new Sony TRV-350 from an online retailer. Total cost will be $450 (all of my local stores are charging $499 plus tax so I'm saving about $100). Here are some details about the camera:

I'm really looking forward to having a new camera. My old Sony TRV-7000 is nice but lacks some features I wanted like an analog to digital pass through.

My CD burner arrived yesterday, I tried to fix my DVD Rom by changing it from master to slave and back to master, but I still get the BSOD. By next week this time most of my room should be back to normal. :)

The Sears Home Central guy came yesterday, he was here for about 10 minutes. The problem was a resistor that just had to be replaced. It's so nice watching TV on my bigger TV again, I can actually read the program info again :) Hopefully my replacement computer speakers should be here tomorrow, but I'll try a few more things before I call in about my DVD ROM.
