Hi. I really need some help and I will admit that I know nothing about dishes so I realize this all may sound ignorant. My husband and I finally got the new tv set he wanted, a 55" samsung. We have never, believe it or not, had cable tv even, and decided to take the plunge and get a dish. It was free with our tv purchase as was installation. We were told buy the retailer they made the arrangements for installation and would be called by the installers to set up appt. So, a few days later they call, make an appt. for Friday, between 12 and 5 was all they could tell me. I just started a new job and hubby works 80 miles away, so it's hard for us to do that, but I managed it, I got time off, stayed home between 12 & 5, and they didn't show or call or anything. I tried to call them at 5, office closed for weekend. We call retailer Sat. morning and he says hubby can probably do it, it's easy, we have spent all weekend, literally, trying to make it work. So, to the question, we get signals on transponders 22-32, between 85 and 95, no signals on any other transponders, and other than that menu, we have blank screen, with searching for satellite message. I would appreciate any suggestions, as I don't know when I can stay home again to wait.

Hello toosad, and welcome to DBSTalk! :hi:

I'm sorry to hear about your troubles thus far. There are many, many knowledgable people here that can help you out and hopefully get you up and running.

First thing we need to know is are you attempting to install Dish Network or Directv? Then, are you looking to install 1 receiver, or multiple receivers? Is the dish you are installing basically round, or is it more elliptical in the horizontal direction? Do you have one cable or more than 1 cable coming out from the dish? Is that cable connected directly to your receiver, or is it (or are they) connected to a switch (looks kind of like a splitter, except in reverse)? And, finally, where are you located?

If you can answer those questions for us, we'll be able to help you out more.
