Does Direct TV have a standard receiver with component inputs? I ahve a D12 connecetd to my Panny LCD in my bedroom and the picture is horrible. I have the TV set properly but the picture is awful.

I believe you mean component output?

If so only the new R22 SD DVR but it is only offered in certain areas and I don't think it is in any retail stores yet.

Thanks for the correction Conponent output. So I guess I need to get a HD box then.

Title fixed.

Yes you would need an HD receiver unless you can find a R22 but you would also need to add DVR service if you don't already have it.

I already have a standard dvr hooked up in my son's room, by the way that is also hooked up to an lcd and the dvr box picture looks much better then my standard box and it also connected via s-video.

You may also try to find an adapter to convert a S-Video output to a Component Video output. Here is a sample link for such adapter...
