I have 2 hard drives installed on Dell dimension 8200 running windows xp. Both hard drives show up in both the BIOS and device manger. I can not see the second hard drive in either my computer or by opening windows explorer. I also tried to boot from 2nd hard drive and it said no boot device found, F1 retry or F2 reboot. I think it may be a problem with a jumper setting. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Is this drive IDE or SATA? If its SATA I think the SATA drivers have to be installed at the time XP is installed.

Does it show up in Disk Management under Computer Mangement under Administrative Tools in Control Panel?

If the jumpers were wrong, it wouldn't appear in the BIOS.
What level service pack and what size drive?
Is the drive enabled in the BIOS?

I had a similar issue recently with a PNP usb external 500gb drive that was on my old MOXI dvr, I googled the term: "how to initilize hard drive windows xp" and found instructions via the web, it worked for me, give it a try...
