Since all those Yankee fans need to have like 928 topics for the YES network Saga. I figured I'd try and find out something about the RSN here in the DC area (oh, Baltimore & Philly too).

Since Home Team Sports(HTS) has become Comcast Sports Net(CSN) Dish Network has been able to continue to carry them. Now that CSN has a HDTV Channel, I was wondering if E* would be able to Carry this channel (costs and bandwidth aside).

Is there a FCC regulation that says if a MSO (comcast) owns a station, that must allow it to be sold to other MSOs to avoid anti-trust rules? Is CSN on Dish just grandfathered from the HTS days?

I would normally not expect CSN-HD to be offered by anyone except Comcast since they are the major Cable Co in this area. I guess they would sell it to other Cable Providers that are not competitors, but Satellite is definately a competitor.

Actually the rule reads, If it is delivered by satellite they must negotiate with satellite. Otherwise, they do not have to negotiate. Comcast Sports Net MidAtlantic is delivered by satellite. Comcast Sportsnet HD may or may not be delivered by satellite.

I am in the Philadelphia area we have nothing on Dish It is very doubtful that E or D will carry the HD channel since it is a local sports feed, as stated above Comcast does not have to offer it if it is a cable based source. I would be happy with the analog feed of the Comcast sportsnet.

Comcast is not offering CSN-HD to other satellite and cable operators. Dish can't offer what Comcast won't sell.

I too, am in the Phila area I would love to get CSN-(any) on my Dish. But I'm sure that is just a pipe-dream. I figured that CSN-HD was just a way to try to boost upgrades to Comcast's Digital Cable.

I was asking because we do have the Wash DC CSN available via E*, but I think thats only because its grandfathered.

Then why dont you cancel the Dish & go back to cable its as simple as that

Directv is better then Dish you got a problem with that

OK except the PQ of cable in my area looks like crap, I can't even view the higher end channels, oh, and they have just offered digital here which is more expensive for less channels than the dish... and oh, yeah I have to rent the equipment. Sounds simple to me.
