Howdy,

I've had an HDTV for almost two months now, but I'm still just watching NTSC analog cable (pretty crudding quality too).

My original intention was to switch to Dish and buy a 6000 series, but my friends at work told me about the 921 and 9000 receivers coming out, so I decided to wait.  Back then, the boards were talking about the new receivers starting to come out in late April or May.

Now, I hear talk that they won't be out until August, maybe later.

What is the current speculation on how long until these new receivers come out?  Does anyone have any new information at all?  I'm just about ready to give up and get a 6023 package, but if the new receivers came out a week after I got the 6000 installed, I'd probably have to shoot myself.  ;)

So, like the poet asked, what's the shizzy?  When are they coming out?

The JVC TU9000s are still scheduled for April-May (as of this morning) with prices in about 30 days. The Dish 921 is still talking August-September, maybe.

I thought DISH was going to have the 9000u available soon, but with DISH that could be 60-90 days, and another 30 days more for good measure!

MARTYVA, what is your source of information on the JVC Tu-PVR9000 release date. This is welcome news because I thought it was going to be released a week or two before PVR921 in August or September.

The JVC TU9000s are still scheduled for April-May (as of this morning) with prices in about 30 days. The Dish 921 is still talking August-September, maybe. The TU9000 uses similar software found in the 921; as a result, you won't see the 9000 much before the 921 (if before the 921 at all).

from the JVC rep. they just finished their regional trade show. The 921 and the 9000 are different systems.

Don't believe everything you hear at trade shows.

I am hearing the JVC unit will be out AFTER the 921 is released.

Isn't that the biggest oxymoron ever?! :D
Most people run and hide when they hear such statements!!!!

When I worked in sales my partners next to me used to always laugh and say they were "licensed to lie".

It didn't show a 1394 connection on the 921 and the 9000 did. I'm dissapointed. The 9000 is getting more tempting if it comes out first and is a few hundred less.

The missing 1394 on the 921 seems more like a typo.

According to dish, at CES, they had no plans for 1394. According to dish, yesterday, they are currently including 1394, but also stated that the 921, (unlike the TU9000) is a work in progress. The Twice chart also states that both units also, only record Satellite. Both units, according to the charts and manufacturers, have one HD tuner and one SD tuner for PIP.

I always figured that 921 stood for the release date: September 21.

I have learned my lesson with E* on any release date. First it was December 2002, only to be changed to March 2003, another changed June 2003 and now September 2003. Isn't this kind of ridiculous? C'ommon E* get your dates straight. What's next December 2003 and then March 2004 and so on...

I would not put my hopes on this and I am considering in buying myhd card even though it only records OTA. But at least is something.

Both the 921 tuners are HD.

Technically speaking the tuner itself have nothing to do with SD/HD content. Only one difference here is 8PSK support for satellite signal ( or 8VSB for terrestial ).
