Hi All,

well i set two timers, lucky they were just tests cause i would have been pissed if i missed my programs, both failed !!!

i selected the program, set Frequency to Weekly and Type to PVR, Start 0 min early and 0 min late, left Protect Recording unchecked.

The first one started at 5pm and it recorded some stupid court program from 9am to 10am, the second did not start at all.

did i do something wrong ?

just set another one to start an hour from now only i checked daily instead of weekly, hopefully that will work

Thanks guys

How long have you had your 721?

Sometimes it takes a day or so before it works correctly (it seems as though there are two clocks in the unit and at first use one of them is always off many hours.

I am hoping this is what happened in your case.

If not call Dish and ask for Advanced Support and perhaps they can troubleshoot some more.

Same thing happened here when I first got my 721. Seems the unit stays in GMT time and takes upto 24 hours to switch to 'local' time.

The new user experience is a bit confusing, between the needed updates and this issue, it certainly could be more 'seemless' (or they should at least put a message in the box saying this is normal)

I agree. Something that was really confusing (to both me and the CSR that was trying to activate my 721 and her supervisor) was that my 721 would not take the activation signal until AFTER it got the software upgrade (mine shipped with L1.07 and it insisted on getting L1.09 as soon as it was hooked up to the dish and plugged in). Both the "read me first" and the CSR said that you can activate it WHILE it is getting the update but mine sure wouldn't allow me to view anything except the promo channels until after the update was installed (which takes almost an hour). I think they need to change the instructions to tell you to allow it to do the update BEFORE you call in to activate.

Well, I just got my 721 set up Tuesday evening. I was having a little difficulty with the switch check, but was able to get the software update. After the 43 minutes waiting for the update I called dish and had the receiver activated and then was transfered to Advanced Tech to get everything set up properly, which took about 10 minutes. And now everything works perfectly. (Only took it about 10 minutes to fully activate and start working properly. I have already recorded 20 different things with nothing missed so far. So yeah, quite happy with it so far! Very excited. No troubles at all.

I agree they need to give more info in the box. I got my replacement 721 on Saturday and I installed and had it activated etc. Everything was great except the re-mapped locals weren't showing up. So I called and they said that it takes 24-48 hours for those to show up. I don't understand why, but if that's the case, they could include some info about that in the box. It would save them from having to answer calls from people about it.
