Hello all,
im sure im doing something wrong, i just installed my 721 last night, timers are still not working but scott says it sometimes takes 24 hrs, ok fine, BUT.....
I was under the impression that with 2 tuners i could for instance be watching on channel, press record and then switch to the second tuner and watch another show, when i try this it says i must go to live mode and stop recording....
WTF ? whats the point of having two tuners if i cant do this ????
Please tell me im a moron and im doing something wrong here
Thanks

Hey guys,
Ok i even read the manual (something i never do) and i followed the instructions to the letter...at the end it states to hit the pip button twice but when i do that i get the same message about going live and stopping the recording, so the only way to keep recording is the leave the pip window open.
why the hell would i want to watch a program with the damn pip window in the way !!!!
am i missing something ?
thanks guys

Okay, I have to ask the question:
Do you TWO (2) cables coming from the satellite dish to the receiver to feed BOTH tuners? If you don't...there you go.
See ya

Hello,
thanks for your response, yes everything is connected properly, it works, i just cant get rid of the pip window, which is ridiculous, since the pip window is just in the way
Thanks again

OK !!!
i figured it out, if you select manual stop option when you record it wont let you turn off the pip window (kinda dumb if you ask me) but i tried it and selected the stop recording at end of program option and it works fine
Thanks guys
I don't like the way that Echostar implemented the two tuner buffer function either. It DOES seem kind of dumb to have to have the PIP window active before the second tuner buffers a second program (you don't need to do that if you have set up a timer). I SURE hope that they change that in a future software update. They REALLY need to take a lesson from (DirecTV) TiVo on this.

Hey Bill,
I agree, having to pull up the pip window and leaving it there for it to buffer a second channel is just plain dumb

This is something I have been wishing they would do, to buffer without having to record on the second tuner.
