I am currently having some problems with recording 1st run shows on my DVR R-16. I have set-up the DVR to just record 1st runs. However, it has also been recording reruns on local stations. Any suggestions?
Thanks...

I think I asked this in an earlier thread and I believe my R16-500 doenn't show the "First Run" in the guide yet. Hopefully it will come in a future software upgrade.

That is crazy... I had Timewarner and The Dish network without a problem. Why is this so different? Thanks...

The partial solution to the R15/16 problem is the R22.

Yes until there is a fix you will need to stay on top of this issue. The only DVR I have seen update recordings for first runs so far is the R22-100.But unless your locals are MPEG4 or are going to change to MPEG4 DirecTV won't send out the R22-100.

My fix on my R15 is to highlight each program in the guide I want to record then press the"R" button on the remote once.;)

The R &HR's are DirecTV's first in house DVRs that's the difference. The R15/16 software is being done by NDS.Where the R22-100 and the HR's software is being done by DirecTV.Hopefully soon DirecTV will take over the software on the R15/16s.;)

Well, guess what? The R22 also records reruns when set to "first run" Mr. Product Basher.

The data provided by TMS (Tribune Media Services) is sent to both R15's, R22's, and ALL DirecTV program guides. And it has the "new/rerun" flag in it which the receiver uses to make a decision.

Also, for your info, I actually like my R15's much better than my R22. So there!

The fact that you prefer the R15 to the R22 speaks volumes about how poorly DIRECTV is doing for their part with the class of machine that they're spending the bulk of their internal development effort on.

That often happens when programming source doesn't properly tag their programming. Specifically what programs are in issue?
