On Thursday, Hughes Electronics and its DirecTV unit raised first quarter guidance for the satellite TV service in the United States.
Based on the quarter-to-date performance, DirecTV said it expects to add more than 325,000 net new subscribers, a jump over previous guidance of 200,000 to 250,000. First quarter EBITDA is expected to be within the original guidance of $80 million to $100 million, Hughes said.
"Actions always speak louder than words - and for several consecutive quarters now, we've recorded strong operating results and made good on our pledge to meet or exceed our commitments to our customers, shareholders and ourselves," said Jack Shaw, Hughes president and CEO.
Hughes will announce first quarter results on April 15.
