Federal authorities have reportedly confirmed that National Guard troops were deployed to protect the Palo Verde nuclear plant this week after intelligence reports described a possible terrorist plot to attack the facility.

Gov. Janet Napolitano did not confirm a direct threat against the nuclear plant when she sent National Guard troops there on Tuesday, saying only that the U.S. Department of Homeland Security had received a number of unspecified threats.
