The Cable Services Bureau at Federal Communications Commission continued its work in the must-carry arena this week, handing down decisions concerning DBS carriage for local stations.
In separate orders released Thursday, the bureau denied must-carry complaints filed by North Pacific International Television, licensee of KHCV in Seattle, against DirecTV and EchoStar's DISH Network. According to the FCC, KHCV failed to notify the companies of its must-carry election by the July 1, 2001, deadline.
The station disputed that it missed the deadline, but the agency nonetheless dismissed the complaints.
In another move, the Cable Services Bureau denied a must-carry complaint filed against DirecTV by Johnson Broadcasting, licensee of KLDT in Dallas.
