Newsday reported that Cablevision has asked the Federal Communications Commission for a second extension to launch its first DBS satellite, another delay for the company's efforts to enter the satellite TV business.
The new request could push the launch date back to Aug. 31. The request was made at the FCC in the last few days, Newsday said.
Cablevision said the delay would not alter the Dec. 29 FCC deadline by which it must offer satellite TV service.
Earlier in the year, Cablevision asked for a two-month launch delay. Lockheed Martin, which is launching the Rainbow I satellite for Cablevision, said it needed the extension, from the original date in March to May.
Cablevision has DBS spectrum at 61.5 degrees.
