Hey all,

I just bought an HDTV for the first time ever and I called Directv today and they are giving me a DIrect HDTV box for free and coming to install it on Aug, 23rd, just in time for football season!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

My Question is what reciever will I be getting and also how much should my monthly charge me? I will have 1 HDTV box, 1 regular DVR box and 1 regular reciever, so what should my monthly charges be?

Just wanted to add that the only thing I get is Choice DVR extra.

Thanks.

There is no telling what receiver you will be getting. Depends on what your area is handing out. And your monthly charge for all your stuff depends on what package you are getting. If I am not mistaken its 5 per box. after your first one

Congrats on the upgrade! You're gonna love it...

They will be switching out your dish for a Slimline 5-LNB dish... The receiver will most likely be an HR21 (if you're getting a DVR)... If you want to receive your local channels OTA, then you will need to buy an add-on tuner called an AM21... If you receive your locals via sat, and don't need an antenna, then the AM21 won't be necessary...

You will pay a $4.99 mirror charge for the additional receiver (as you do with your other recievers)... and you will pay a $9.99 HD access fee... which is a set fee no matter how many receivers you have...

Your charges will depend on your package. You will most likely be getting a HR21.

You pay $4.99 program mirror fee for every receiver beyond your first (which is included in your package). So if you have 3 total receivers the you'll pay $9.98 a month for those 2 extra receivers.

If you're getting an HD DVR then you'll get an HR21 with a slight chance of an HR20.
If you're just getting a non DVR HD receiver then you'll probably get an H21, maybe an H22 which I think just came out.

Honestly get the HD DVR, no reason to get HD if you can't record it. :) Have fun!

Correct... The DVR fee and the HD access fees cover the entire account... no matter how many recievers...

Yes one DVR charge per account with DirecTV.

Correct (and covers all DVRs on your account). But with HD you should get the Plus HD DVR package which is Choice Xtra and includes both the HD fee and DVR fee. Then the only extra fee's you'll have will be for your 2 extra receivers and if you decide on the HD Extra pack that is $5 (this is exactly what I have). Of course any premium's you buy or things like Sunday Ticket (for the football fan) are extra.
