Does any one know of a site where you can buy Dish network Dishes by them selves without the receiver? Thanks.

I tried Dish Netowork's main site, but i just found the acessories page. (ie: remotes, phone jacks) My suggestion would be Ebay or some other place. (like a pawn or thrift store.)

If you just need a single dish, any DirecTV or DishNetwork dish will do just fine, in which case I'd try Ebay. Frankly, I've seen quite a number of Dish500s there as well.

dishdepot.com has both 18" dishes and Dish500s with pro and lagacy twins and quads, or just the assembly w/o any LNB.

You can also use generic single dishes if you want to point a dish at each satellite. I use 3 generic dishes (119, 110, and 61.5). This cuts down dramatically on rain fade if you use 24"+ dishes.

I have a few for sale, both D500 and D300. Either kit is $99 with an LNB.

You can usually get them real cheap from people that have no need for them anymore. A local retailer should have some spares that they can sell you. If you want a dish 500 upgrade you can sign up for a year of top 150 and get the dish with installation for free. also if you live in a locals market in which the locals are at 61.5 you will also get a free dish 300 for that including installation. Also if you use the Dish movers program and need a new dish as a result and sign up for a year of top 150 then you will get the dish and installation for free.
Sometimes you can check e-bay or your local paper for poeple selling them for cheap as well. I am sure someone on here has them for really cheap for under $50 with lnbf. Do you need a single or dual lnbf and do you need the mast?

Circuit City sells a Terk 18" dish and dual LNB for $40. This is equivalent to a Dish 300 and can be used for a single orbital slot. I am using one for 148º.

That is a pretty decent price for a dish. Is there any dishes in which are like the Sony ones DirecTv had where you could clamp it right onto any size pole where it has an adjustable clamp? If not then is there some type of kit to make any dish like that without having to use the mast? Having to use u-bolts and a mast is more troublesome and makes it topheavy for those that go camping and travel with the dish. This would be an alternative to using a tripod.
Will the dish at Circuit City work for Dish network because it says it is for Direct TV? Thanks.

If it's the standard 18" dish, with a single or dual LNB, yes it will work. If it's one of the new 18x20" triple LNB dishes, it won't because they have an integrated multiswitch and sat b/c combiner. If it's the older 18x24" DirecTV Plus dish, it will work, and can be used for 110 and 119 on Dish but youll have to play with the LNB spacing.
What do all of the switches do? If I buy either a new or used off eBay Dish 500 will I have to buy any switches? Thanks.

Here's the EKB page on Dish switches

Depends on the type of LNB the dish comes with, and how many tuners you want to hook up.
I would want to hook up 1 receiver.

Yes, a Direct TV branded 18" dish w/one dual LNB is equivalent to the Dish300. It will work only for a single oribital slot - 61.5, 110, 119, or 148. IOW, it is NOT the same as a Dish500, which can receive 2 orbital slots - 110 and 119. If you wanted to use an 18" dish to receive 110 and 119, you would need two dishes connected together with SW21's.
I have a Dish500 w/twin LNB for 110/119, and use the Terk 18" dish to receive DFW locals on 148.
If I purchase this dish from Dish Depot will I have to buy any switches to connect to one receiver? Here is the link to the dish http://www.dishdepot.com/Cart/description.php?II=492543&UID=2003032620212768.169.34.88

No switches are required for the twin to connect to 1 or 2 receivers. The LNB will have 2 outputs, each can be fed to a receiver.
What is the model of your receiver? This is a DISHPRO LNB, so it will only work with the newer pro-line of receivers - 301, 50x, and 721. If you have a legacy receiver, one that has a 4 digit model number, you will need a legacy LNB, or you have to buy a DishPro adapter to use a legacy receiver with a pro LNB.
