I have seen news from around the world, and there's a HUGE difference between news from around the world and the mainstream media in the US.
I've seen the news media from around the world showing what's REALLY going and and the media here just seems to be COVERING UP in my opinion.
Here are just a few examples, you'd NEVER see stuff like this in the media here, it was all COVERED UP.
Check out the dead Iraqi soldiers who still have the white flag in their hand, and other pics of the "LIBERATED IRAQI CIVLIANS".

The US media doesn't make it a practice of showing blood and guts on the TV.
It's interesting that your pics labeled basra are from iraqi tv footage from Iraqi hospitals.

Nice to see you are supporting Saddam's regime.

First of all your claim that the US media doesn't show blood and guts is BULL.
Michael Savage on MSBNC and MANY OTHER news channels and organizations have shown dead Kurds from the late 80s OVER AND OVER AGAIN.
2ndly, they're NOT MY pics they're just pics that were posted on newsgroups and on websites and stuff.
BTW, where the hell do you think Iraqi civilians who were injured would be if not in Iraqi Hospitals, hospitals in England or WHAT?
If people treated dogs the way people treat sand&^%%$#@ then all of the US would be in an uproar.

If you spend a second and look at a map you would see that basra is not close to baghdad.

It's also good to know that you get your pics from the same source you get your nude britney pics.

Have you tried to look for the pics of Iraqi's smiling and waving at the cameras or the one of the Iraqi pounding a poster of Saddam with his shoe?? No? I didn't think you did.

it'sa a shame. white, that you don't bother to take the time to find pics of the horrible things that the saddahm regime has done to HIS OWN PEOPLE...but i guess that would take the fun out of it for you...

Another thing to remember is that we have no idea when and where some of those photos were taken. For all we know they could be from some other war or terrorist attack that we had nothing to do with.

It's war, people will get hurt or killed, on both sides. People holding white flags may get shot or bombed, on purpose, or by accident. It is war. I don't need pictures to tell me what is happening, or media reports. They only get to see what one side wants them to see - US tells them what they can see, or Iraqi Information ministry tells them what they can see. That is why for the most part, even unbiased media is biased.

I can't take my eyes off the screen. Today I've watched a fire fight in Umm Qasr. I find it very interesting to see the tactics being used in battles. I try to imagine the feeling from their point of view, and from what I've seen these forces are very profesional.

I'm not exactly sure I should be able to watch this, but like I say; I can't take my eyes off the screen.

Absolutely fascinating stuff.

Now, I think both sides are using propaganda tactics.

The USA is showing the Iraqi people hugging soldiers and our troops taking down posters of Saddam. This looks too much like it's made for TV. While I do not disagree that some people will be happy to be rid of Saddam, I don't think any of them want to be killed by allied bombs or patriot missiles. And with the view that many Iraqis have of the US, especially our support of the Arab world's sworn enemy (Israel), I do not think everyone will welcome the Americans into Iraq.

Iraqi TV on the other hand is showing Iraq being victorious in the war, and innocent civilians being killed by the US. It shouldn't be a surprise to anyone that they're broadcasting this. After all, if you show your own people that you're being defeated, they are going to desert you or maybe erupt into civil war.

Welcome to the world of broadcast propaganda warfare!

Raj,

I'm curious. What are your feelings on this war at this phase. I was personnaly heartened by the fact that they have allowed as much access to the media as they have to help document what is REALLY happening instead of allowing a "pool" report like the last time around.

My worry was that even IF we hit the jackpot and found the weapons of mass destruction or IF we were attacked with chemical weapons, that no one would believe us and assume that the CIA faked it. By bringing the newsmedia along with us we can prove the genuine nature of the findings (ie. this camouflaged chemical plant).

Funny that you think the media is covering all this up. Sunday's Atlanta Journal Constitution posted a different angle shot of the Iraqi's with the surrender flag.

Does the fact that they had a flag mean anything? Nope. Notice they are still in the trench. They still are adjacent to their weapons. Surrender pamplets clearly indicate that troops are to place themselves in visible formations away from any guns.

Just because they made plans to possible surrender doesn't mean a thing. This war has already seen Iraqi's under a white flag turning on US troops and attacking. Likewise we have Iraqi's who attack briefly and then surrender prior to being pounded in return. Show me a video or picture of clearly captured Iraqi's under a white flag being killed and I'll be impressed. Iraqi has already returned the favor and shown clearly captured US soldiers being shot in the head.

I wonder if they would treat our POW's any better considering we have many Iraqi's as POW's and that they would want us to treat the Iraqi POW's well.
