They just reported on Fox News that they shot our POWs and tortured them...they have video tape. I hope they take Saddam alive.

You mean they showed them being tortured and shot on Iraqi TV?

The worms at Al-Jazeera reportedly have broadcast graphic pictures of dead American servicemen, showing close in pictures of their faces.

Can we bomb them too?

Fox has not aired the video but has made it available to DoD.

Ther is also footage of dead personnel but it does not seem clear whether they are the same people. Perhaps there are POWs and casualties. An ugly picture no matter what

You can debate the legitimacy and the legality of this conflict. Nevertheless the burden to adhere to international standards of the treatment of war prisoners still rests upon all parties.

At keast frigging respect for the Geneva convention. US forces have given Iraqi POW food, medical attention and water and treated humanely unlike this sick Saddam. This shows you how trully evil he is.

I found these pics from a muslim forum, these are pics being shown by Iraqi TV, really brutal pictures. Shows us how war is dirty and that it should always be the last resort.

Looking at these pics whether you are an American or not it brings a tear to your eye.

Please be advised these pictures are very graphic.

I also believe even if you were a person that was against the war to start with what these pictures show is totally wrong and the US and the rest should step up the force.

I don't even know what to say about these pics.

Can anyone translate?
Curious what they are saying there.

There are no words to descride the feelings that I have toward the people that have commited these war crimes! I can only offer my prayers to the families of these brave souls. I hope that these scum are eventually found and treated in the same manner that they treated our troops! No...even that would be too good for them!!

What those pictures looked to me like was that they had interviews with those soldiers and they then brutally killed those same people.

Aljazeera is a completely biased news agency who shows only one side of the news.

It looks like they were executed. All of them have shots to the head. Its time for the USA to change its Spare Civilians Plan.

One of the POWs is a Woman from Texas, listening to a female POW from 1991, she stated that she was sexually assaulted but didn't go into detail, the same can probably be assumed for this POW.

I didn't really expect them to play fair... :nono:

But I can't help being angry right now...unfortunately no level of pain we will be able to inflict on Saddam will equal the pain he has caused the people of Iraq.

The video of these images was shown on Telemundo in the US for about 3 minutes (when it was live) and they decided not to keep showing it. The female anchor was sad when she saw the video and the male anchor couldn't even speak and they went to commercials.

Univision decided to show the video but only showed a few seconds (around 40 minutes later than Telemundo).

and TVchile show less than a minute of this video but very pixelated.

Did anyone else got to see the video?

as far as i'm concerned, Dish Network, by being a conduit of al jazeera in this country, has provided aid to our enemies in this war...

Had the gov't asked dish to take Al Jazeera down? If not then I don't consider it an issue as this was not expected. Tomorrow may be a different issue???

I agree. Al Jazerra does nothing but spread the propaganda of Saddam Hussein's regime. Their only interest is to ensure that they stay in business, so they're going to do anything and everything to aid them. After all, it's bin Laden's self-proclaimed favorite station. Dish, out of respect for the campaign as well as American lives, should take it off of their programming tier. Who knows how this station has aided sleeper cells in the US.

Guys,

Be careful about posting links to those pictures. By the Iraqis showing the pictures on TV they are breaking the Geneva Convention which falls under international law. Please note item "A" in our terms of use:

(a) violate or solicit the violation of any applicable local, state, national or international law;

Also, I think it's a little insensitive to the families. If you would like to see those pictures, please transmit those links in private.

Please understand that I'm trying to hold this board to a higher standard than the newsgroups. Thanks for you cooperation.

Actually they are about the only free press that exists in that part of the world. I agree they make very bad decisions, but they bring uncensored news to the middle east. Biased yes, but a puppet of Saddam, no.

Good point Chris.

Let's hope we can get those men and women back safe.

You may or may not have heard the details of their capture. Our troops were captured when the Iraqis came out waving white flags of surrender. They got behind our guys before they were disarmed and began to shoot. I wonder if we can trust anyone now waving a white flag.

Well you have to... I think though they will be very careful from now on.

Thank you for demonstrating how some pro-war people really feel about those civilians that they supposedly want to liberate.

firephoto
03-23-03, 07:42 PM
Not picking, just an altitude error as they "buzz" the roof top.

I saw a story the other day that said Qatar wasn't too happy about their own decision to build us an air base. They could be saying this though to keep from being attacked by some terrorists too.

They are interviewing some of the 1991 POWs on Larry King (CNN) right now. Not a pretty picture they paint on how they were treated then. :(
Watched a 1996 interview earlier on CSPAN with another POW from 1991. Iraq doesn't treat POWs very well.

I'm betting those in Arab countries are saying the same of CNN, MSNBC, FOX and other US news sources.

I don't think that will happen. People can get Al-Jazeera from other sources anyway, like This live feed (http://www.aljazeera.net/live.asx).

You may not be able to access it right now (too many users).

The more users that make it unusable the better.

Thats fine, but Qatar and Oman are two of our best supporters.

I have to agree with James on this one. Qatar, Oman and the UAE are the most progressive countries in the Middle East. They have oil, money, and investment diversity to take care of their populus for years to come. Qatar has five American university campuses and citizens of Qatar can attend college for free, as well as receive free medical care, etc. They are a good ally, and by being so, we have their back against the backwards countries that are around them. UAE is the home of the fifth US Naval Fleet and also a good ally with a progressive government. Not everyone in that area are in a jihad against the US. Aljazeera at least gives the people there news that isn't state news agency controlled. As unbalanced as it seems, it isn't the same as Iraqi national tv.

firephoto

al Jazeera seems to be acting as a way for Iraq TV to broadcast their propaganda around the world. They admitted to running this 6 minute video atleast 3 times this morning (US time) before they stopped (talks with the Pentagon). They then edited it and ran only parts of it later today. This 6 minute segment has been run by many television stations around the world because they all get the al Jazeera feed. Everything that has been on Iraqi TV has been on al Jazeera except for some of the patriotic music that's played when news isn't on. One of the mothers of the POWs found out by seeing her son on a Phillipino tv stations broadcast after a friend saw it and called her!

Yeah, but every showing of this tape converts another dove to a hawk in this country. (My father used to joke that most Republicans were Democrats who had been mugged).

Show the pictures of these atrocities juxtaposed with the pictures of Marines giving food to the captured Iraqis and you just raise the level of credibility for the US's position that this is a brutal regime that NEEDS to be removed for the world to be a better place.

For every peacenik who marched, I wonder how many of them want to defend Iraq now that they could be raping their female US prisoners and abusing the rest of the prisoners in a way that the Nazis would have approved of.

James_F

We don't defend Iraq by any means. We just don't view this war and necessary. I feel Afghanistan was needed, and I think we should be more involved in the Philippines. Iraq is surrounded and poised no threat.
