If it turns out that the regime in some fashion is still intact and that there is resistance that necessitates a move on Baghdad...what will the strategy be.

The military has wisely avoided urban warfare. We saw what happened in Nasiriyah when you take a wrong turn down a densely populated city street. If Baghdad becomes an objective theatre how will it be conducted.

This could become a troubling problem. Despite all the things going on elsewhere in Iraq...Saddam is concentrating his strategy on Baghdad.

This is a huge metropolis, the biggest city in the Middle East after Cairo. It's sprawling. I don't believe getting drawn into building to building fighting is a good idea. They better have some pretty clever intelligence abilities up their sleeve. This could be a mess if not.

It's getting hit hard as we speak.
Heard a cruise missile go by one of the cameras.

Not knowing anything about military strategy, my guess is that they would most likely use an aerial assault prior to going in, so as to destroy whatever is left in there.

It won't be pretty if it happens, but I doubt that Baghdad will be a repeat of Stalingrad. The fighting will be desperate, but not catastrophic.

If satellite scramblers are used then precision targeting is going to be hard to do and cause a lot of problems, especially if it lands on innocent civilians and ground troops.

Unless, of course, the Three Stooges (Saddam and his sons) really do have WMDs and unleash them in one last act of defiance.
